Career and technical education programs in Dickenson County Public schools serve more than 1,062 students in grades 6-12. These programs are designed to prepare young people for productive futures while meeting the commonwealth's need for well-trained and industry-certified technical workers.

Virginia acknowledges the importance of career and technical education to students by awarding diploma seals and by recognizing industry credentialing in its diploma requirements.

“Beginning with students entering ninth grade for the first time in 2013-2014, a student must earn a board-approved career and technical education credential to graduate with a Standard Diploma.” 

Credentials available in Dickenson County Public Schools included Workplace Readiness Skills Assessment, National Career Readiness Certificate, Microsoft Office Certifications, NRF Customer Service and Sales Certifications, ASK Fundamental Marketing Concepts Examination, Welding Assessment, Virginia Board of Nursing National Nurse Aide Assessment Examination, Hospitality Management Lodging Option Assessment, ASK Fundamental Marketing Concepts Examination, Carpentry Assessment, Beef Quality Assurance Certification, Natural Resource Systems Assessment, Virginia Board of Barbers and Cosmetology Licensure Examination:, ASE Student Certification Examinations, CAD Assessment, W!SE Financial Literacy Certification, and National Occupational Competency Testing Institute (NOCTI).
